  • Energy crunch for UK power in seven years

  • Steve Holliday, chief executive of National Grid told the Times newspaper that Britain could face regular blackouts within seven years if the Government does not intervene to prevent an energy gap that will be created by future power station closures. The warning came after Ofgem, the energy industry regulator, said it was to consider fresh incentives to encourage the development of renewable energy schemes in Britain.

Stoves.

Wood Burning Stoves

A Cola Wood Burning Heater Wood Burning Stoves are very efficient. Most of the Cola wood burning stove range are around 75% efficient, with very little heat lost through the chimney. They have zero carbon footprint, as any carbon dioxide produced by a wood stove is simply reemitting the carbon dioxide absorbed by trees during their lifetime. As long as the wood is from a sustainable wood source, there is no net increase in CO2 emission - making wood stoves a very environmentally-friendly heat source.

Stoves can be either for room heating only or have an integrated boiler for providing hot water. There is also the option of having a small oven integrated into the stove. Heat outputs range from 5kW to 20.5kW

A Cola wood burning range

Finally there are wood burning ranges that have integrated ovens and pan hob. Heat outputs range from 6kW to 27kW.

Pellet Burning Stoves

A Cola pellet burning stovePellet Burning Stoves are even more efficient - typically around 80-87% and again they are completely carbon neutral. They are available in both room heating only and room heating with hotwater (both for central heating and hot water) versions. Heat outputs range from 6.73kW to 26kW

They have an additional benefit over wood burning stoves in that they have automated start up and shut down systems allowing them to operate whilst you are still asleep or out in just the same way as a gas boiler.
